NITRO, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Out with the old and in with the new, that is the motto at the Nitro Police Department.
Mayor Rusty Casto tells WSAZ.com the city is selling its fleet of police cruisers and using the money to buy 17 new cars. The new cruisers will cost the city a little more than 460-thousand dollars.
Casto says the down payment will come from the sale of the old crusiers and the rest will be financed over the next five years.
The new cruiser should be on the streets by the beginning of July.

I'm surprised that a town the size of Nitro needs 17 cruisers. More importantly, I'm surprised that they need them all at one time. Usually police depts purchase something like half their fleet at a time.
