I really don't care HOW windy u are, you can talk all you like...the point was your comment about me having to have the last word. It seems that some resort to that tactic when they can not change my mind. I am no more like that than anyone else on here.
Now as to you wanting to be proud of your town....stop focusing on the negative...stop trying to change what will not be changed...there are a lot of good things and good people in Nitro. It really is not that hard to find something to be proud of here if you look. The town is not perfect...it is struggling. Constantly finding fault and tearing it down is NOT helping. We have the government we got and we have to live with it....like it or not. I could spend all my time focusing on the bad in Nitro too....but I CHOSE to do more constructive things....I prefer building up to tearing down. If you want to be proud then just do it! It all comes from in the attitude you have. Either positive or negative.
Just like the levy...WHY take away from a struggling town? What would THAT do? Would it MAKE the government work better??? NO! Would it make the Mayor smarter? The council listen more? NO! All it would have done was to make them dig in their heels and become even more stubborn. Not passing the levy would have been biting off ou noses to spite our faces. There is NO point to trying to FORCE change in Nitro. I have said this from the start. It will NEVER work.
The only way to change Nitro is one SMALL step at a time, kindly, from within it, not from the outside screaming and hollerin, with malice toward everyone.

I say:
Fred you still don't get it. My main concern is that we do not loose everything that it has taken generations to built. We have lost enough already with the companies leaving. We lost a lot of revenue. Our town is struggling. Our state is struggling and we are taking more from the people at a time when we need to just be satisfied with what we have and pay the bills we have, not be greedy. We should be smelling the roses and thought we were when we were made promises that never happened.
I had a friend that spent the night with me in high school. We had a night function at the school and because they had just lost their car she didn't have transportation to get back to the school.
She wanted to take a bath. She could hardly wait to take a bath. I thought it was strange how she was acting about this till she was finished and came into my room. We were seniors and that was the first time she had been in a bath tub with running water.
Not many kids now days have had to struggle like this, but with as many people that have lost their jobs, their savings, well many will be seeing a life that they never dreamed could be. This generation doesn't know the real world. Sometimes progress isn't everything. Just being able to get thru is something to be proud of.
I hope Nitro comes out of all this with flying colors but I don't think from what I've seen in the past that they have always used good judgement. I also prefer building up not tearing down but only if it is not at the cost of others downfall. And I think by making sure we have our bills paid for before spending another dime is very POSITIVE.
I think we need more concerned citizens to improve keep standing up for a REAL POSITIVE NITRO.

I think we need some positive people to actually get out and help instead of a bunch of "concerned" people running their pie holes and trying to tear the town down!

Well, Freddie, what do you think I've been doing. I sure have no time to make Pies with the pot holes I go thru everyday.

That's a shame. I bet you bake good pies, perhaps you SHOULD bake more.

I say:
If my baking a pie would help get our Streets updated in Nitro, I'd bake one everyday. Believe you me.....
