Clean Up Nitro A Has Been

What happened to Clean Up Nitro Week. Last year before election time and while gas prices were almost $5.00 a gallon the Mayor had a big Clean Up Nitro week. The trucks were rolling everyday gathering up garbage to show they were going to make Nitro a cleaner place to live.
Well, now that they are back in office, have acquired more money, living high off the hog, the clean up doesn't matter anymore.
I have called 4 times this past month to have my street project picked up, to only get a no show each time. Today I called about another clean up for a neighbor who was put in a rest home. The children had to come in from out of state to get the house ready to sell. I called and asked the City if they could pick up the debris before Friday since an Open House was planned for Sunday and the children had to go back home. I was told there would be a $3.00 fee to come and pick up on a day other than the scheduled date. I have called time and time again for over 41 years and there has never been a problem like this. No one EVER mentioned a $3.00 fee to me. I was told this fee was put on three years ago.
I can't believe that Nitro would like a new buyer to see something like this. Just what was the Clean Up Nitro about anyway. Seems very clear to me now. Well, of course they have nothing to worry about now. They are back in office, back on spending sprees, and could care less about Cleaning up Nitro. I have never asked for anything that would not improve my town in one way or another. And to think gas is only $1.99 a gallon now. This is another sad day for NITRO.
