Meth Lab in South Hills. Higher property values huh?

Postby bigJ on Mon Feb 11, 2008 2:23 pm

Sunday night a possible explosion from a meth lab blew up and started a fire at apartments on Smith Road in South Hills.
Right behind Overbrook Elementry and very close to GWHS, and within very expensive homes at Jordan Place, Georgetown Place and Tennis Club Road. The apartments last year where drug dealers where arrested.
A place that has supplied lots of the rich and elites kids with drugs.
So even though property taxes have increased in South Hills and the $2 dollar Danny fee established, drugs and meth labs exist within the heart of Danny's own backyard.
A backyard where looking the other way happens daily because of who knows who and the police don't want to step on the wrong persons toes.

I watched it happen as I live across the hill in direct line of sight. Just goes to show you're not safe anywhere.

One man is in jail after a lit cigarette caused his residence, one of four connected townhouses in South Hills, to catch fire and expose a secret methamphetamine lab, investigators said.

When firefighters arrived, the residence was already fully involved and flames were shooting out the windows, dispatchers said.

Firefighters quickly doused the flames and then discovered several materials often associated with the manufacturing of methamphetamine.

Metro Drug Unit was called out to search the residence and take samples.

After an investigation, Anthony Frederick White, 32, the resident, was charged with operating a clandestine lab and taken to South Central Regional Jail, according to Metro Drug Unit Lt. Chuck Carpenter.

I would rather my tax dollars be used to prevent crime and fight the war against drugs rather that handing out speeding tickets.
