Inhofe: EPA too powerful, could damage economy

While others criticized the Bush administration's inaction on greenhouse gases, U.S. Sen. Jim Inhofe warned Friday that it has put in place a scenario that will bankrupt the U.S. economy.

Haven't taxpayers paid enough because of the bureaucratic imperialism of the EPA?

"Obviously the concept of regulating carbon dioxide under the Clean Air Act is flawed and the act must be amended by Congress," Inhofe said.

How does CO2 which is as necessary for life as O2 become a problem which will require trillions (with a T) to regulate? Have people gone completely crazy?

"Today's notice should concern all lawmakers; no one should want the EPA to exercise the kind of power and authority that the career staff at EPA contemplates."

Do you breath too much?

More drivel from the EPA! Guess what the bureaucrats at EPA wasted their time and taxpayers' money calculating?

Life Not Worth As Much, Says Gov't Agency
EPA Says Americans Worth $900,000 Less Than They Were 5 Years Ago

Can insurance companies use this to limit the multi-million dollar judgements leved against them? Or is this just more money wasted by pointy-headed bureaucrats?

The "value of a statistical life" is $6.9 million in today's dollars, the Environmental Protection Agency reckoned in May - a drop of nearly $1 million from just five years ago.

Consider, for example, a hypothetical regulation that costs $18 billion to enforce but will prevent 2,500 deaths. At $7.8 million per person (the old figure), the lifesaving benefits outweigh the costs. But at $6.9 million per person, the rule costs more than the lives it saves, so it may not be adopted.

What a crock! The EPA just like the IRS does whatever it wants to do!
