South Charleston Mayor Frank Mullins---Throws Them Out !

Postby josiewales on Fri Jun 13, 2008 12:45 am

A national organization, with a local South Charleston chapter, that is widely known as Alcohol Anonymous , that has been having meetings once a week for at least (15) years at city hall building, has been told to find themselves another meeting place by mayor Frank Mullins.

Mayor Mullins explained to this AA groups representive that he needed the space for some type of new "unexplained" city project . And he had changed the night shift maintenance crew to a day shift only. Wants nobody in city hall building after certain hours, except his"closest"staff members..

The AA members of the South Charleston chapter were very upset with this decision made by mayor Mullins. They pleaded with mayor Mullins and also city manager Carllton Lee to reverse this decision because several of these AA members did not drive their automobiles anymore, but used the bus lines to get to these AA meetings.

Several of these AA members are citizens of South Charleston and called their city councilperson representative for help, but this did not happen. The city councilpersons told the AA members that mayor Mullins had made up his mind to not let the AA organization to meet at city hall anymore, and there was no changeing his mind.

I am not a member of this AA but I was asked by a member of this local AA chapter my opinion on why mayor Mullins would do this. I told him in my personal opinion to keep a record from the day that mayor Mullins made this decision to throw this organization out of city hall and then go to the local newsmedias or any state department such as Human Rights etc and see if they will hear their case and pleas.

Also, mayor Mullins may be needing this space at city hall for his "latest" appointee retired South Charleston city fireman. T.H. Cobb..

Maybe they could meet at Schultzies. Can't blame him much, most are addicted to alot more than just alkie haw. I wouldn't want them roaming around after hours either, maybe a local church will open a room for them (that's what they do in most other places) get them in a place of worship and get them off hooch. What is your beef with Cobb?

Well Weiners -hound-,A humorous attitutde toward someone trying to re-habilitate themselves to become better citizens of the community is laughable ???? I do know there is a couple of professional people in this So.Charleston AA group and other members .that have the support of their familes to straighten their lives out. I wonder if their familys thinks it is laughable ?

As far as any of this AA members being additcted to something else, I would'nt know. I assume that your analogy is based on once a "Alkie" always a "Alkie"...

You say,( I wouldn't want them roaming around after hours either )....Sounds like a vested interest here .....

Yes I agree they could meet somewhere else, so far they cannot find a place where its close to the bus line.

But heres the real deal bill, Past mayor Robb let the So.Charleston AA organization meet at city hall for the past (15) years and had no problem with this "community service" for them. But now mayor Frank Mullins has a problem with it. And does not explain why ?....

How do you derive "I" have a problem with Cobb ?......Cobb is not "my" problem ....

I am entitled to my opinion of alcoholics.....you probably think it is a "disease" right? That mearly pushes the blame off on oneself...not my fault, I have a disease. It is a choice...put down the damn bottle.

Wieners-hound. that is right (I am entitled to my opinion of alcoholics.), everyone has one just like rectal orfices.

Is alcoholism a disease ?.. It depends who you are talking to. It has neither been confirmed or unconfirmed that it is a disease by the professional medical community as I know of ...

But lets say its not a disease. A chronic alcohol abuser could not just put the bottle down, just like a chronic drug abuser throwing away their drugs and needles, and like many chronic alcoholics and many chronic drug users they seek help....

But to revert back to the original subject matter of my 1st post ( Mayor Mullins Throws Them Out ) after 15 years of no problems with this South Charleston AA chapter there seems no truthful answers ..

Josie, I agree with what you said about RITCHIE ROBB, A civic minded person and Mayor for many years. It brought thoughts to my head, such as why doesn't some one that knows Ritchie well, talk to him about running on a write in ticket for GOVERNOR. It just may work, at the present time it looks a though, Mojo will get it on name recognition, He sure hasn't done anything else for the people of this State. He like the last time, doesn't have a formidable opponent. He like Kent Carper has the ability to get their nose,s into a camera. Rob has a good name and just may stand a chance....... OOoo I forgot to mention that Mojo used his Uncle, AJ Manchin, as a prop to get elected. We need a good man like Robb, that needs no prop, he could run on his own record. Come on Bloggers get busy, hopefully, Richie Robb just may do it, get his name out there, and hope for a miracle, no More Mojo Manchin, and his messes.
Call Bob Arobgast the piano man, he may help. He and Robb are great Friends........ Sammy.

Richie is a joke and the best thing he can do is fade away, he would not stand a chance at running for Gov. He couldn't even carry Kan. Co. in his Congressional run. When he was mayor he was a joke and put the city in debt and treated the employees like crap. Mayor Mullins has done far more in one yr. then what RR did in 32yrs.

Sammy, As far as Robb being elected governor is not possible. I highly doubt that anyone would write Robb in as their canidate in the general 2009 election.

But in my case, I will vote for either Russ Weeks or Independent Frank Kula. This will be basically my "protest" vote against Joe Manchin in Kanawha county vote tabulation.

Manchin is "desparate" to win as many votes he can in Kanawha county, that was his goal in the last general election ! This Kanawha county vote count for Manchin will only be a instrument to gauge his popularity in this county.

The political forecast is Joe Manchin will win another term as governor unless "something" happens..Who Knows ? "Something" might just happen before the general election ....I can only suggest to you is be a "watchman" on the wall for any future news or events...

Viva La. "Desperado Joe".....Manchin...
